Cause Related PR: The Peace Run

Since 1987, 4.5 million people (including 3 million children) have carried the Peace Torch in 126 countries over a total distance of 490,000 km (305,000 miles)—more than the distance to the moon. Dozens of well-known individuals have carried the Peace Torch, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Paul McCartney, Carly Simon, President Mikhail Gorbachev and others.

Vineberg Communications’ goal was to promote awareness of the U.S. event and the peace message of the organization. Impressive media results included TV coverage on PBS, TODAY, Regis & Kathi Lee, articles in The New York Times, USA Today and other national and daily papers. Vineberg also established the Mayors’ Council for the Peace Run, and enlisted the support of members of the U.S. Conference of Mayors.
